Back to Pong

“Back To Pong” was a concept for a new podcast, recorded a day after a particularly raucous party at Rich's flat somewhere between 2007 and 2008.

It was a joint effort between Christopher "chrishunt / Thisisthechris" Hunt, Chris 'cj' Jenkins and Rich Jeffery, with research input by Chrissey Harrison.

A pilot was recorded but never completed due to some missing items (most importantly, the rules of the podcast themselves).

In late 2010, the intro script was found in a long-lost zip archive. It reads as follows:

Welcome to Back To Pong, a brand spanking new type of gaming podcast, full of useless trivia you never knew you needed to know.

The premise is simple: prove that every modern game can be linked back to Pong, by any means necessary, giving a bit of review and critique as we go. The practical: not so simple!

It's not helped by the set of rules we have to obey in order to complete this mammoth task. Mr Announcer, tell us what we have to do.

– VO of announcer going through the rules of the game –

So, let's introduce the idiots who believe that this will be easy. So, names & gamertags, people!

– Run through of podcasters and gamertags –

Right, now that's over, our first challenge is: to prove that LittleBigPlanet is really a descendant of Pong.

Go!

– Discussion begins – Wrap up

We've proved that LittleBigPlanet and Pong are one and the same, give or take 30 years. Our next challenge will be trying to figure out how to get back to Pong from the first game we unwrap at Christmas. If you've got any comments, complaints or suggestions (or even your own links), then visit our Facebook page - just search for 'Back To Pong'.

He's been Chris, he's been CJ, and I've been Rich. So until we play again, Goodbye!

A copy is lying somewhere. One day it will be found, and maybe one day Back To Pong can be resurrected. Until then, it's all in the cloud…
